BHECN Scholars |
Applications are now open for BHECN Scholars. This Nebraska-based, competitive program provides tuition support ($5,000 during students' senior year and another $5,000 during their first year of a Nebraska-based master's program in behavioral health), mentorship, and cohort-based opportunities. If students want to apply to CSC's MAE in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, this is a fantastic opportunity! |

BHECN Scholar Workshop |
On April 28th, Dr. Wilson will host a workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Center-Ponderosa Room to share more information with students about the BHECN Scholar Program and help eligible students (rising seniors) strengthen their applications. If interested students are unable to attend the workshop, Dr. Wilson can schedule an individual meeting. |

CACREP & CAEP |
Great News! The Clinical Mental Health Counseling MAE program is CACREP Accredited, and the School Counseling program-Options 1 & 2 are CAEP accredited! |
| Praxis Subject Exam | All School Counseling Students (Options 1 & 2) are required to pass the Praxis Counseling Subject Exam #5422 to graduate, even though NDE no longer requires the exam for endorsement! ETS requires a 28-day waiting period before you can retake the exam if you fail an attempt. Thus, you must schedule to take this exam during Practicum at least one semester before graduation. |
| CPCE Exit Exam | All CMHC students are required to pass the CPCE before graduating. You must schedule to take this exam during Practicum. |
| Cohort Model |
Counselor Education programs have transitioned to a cohort model. In this structure, all students in the cohort move through the program together, taking the same courses each term. This model fosters a strong sense of community, support, and collaboration among students and faculty. Because each course builds intentionally on the last, the sequence is fixed, and all students must follow the same progression throughout the program without deviation. |
| Mental Health Licensure and School Counseling Endorsement |
The CMHC & SC programs are designed to prepare students for licensure or endorsement in Nebraska. If you plan to pursue licensure or endorsement in a state other than Nebraska, please check the state's licensing board to determine licensing requirements. You may be required to complete additional coursework for licensure/endorsement or authorization before beginning a clinical or field experience. Please reach out to your advisor with any questions.
