American Indian Elderhostel set
Chadron State College will be hosting an Elderhostel about American Indian culture May 22-27. A dozen senior citizens from seven states are registered.
Titled “Lakota Drum Beats—Interaction with the Oglala Lakota,” the Elderhostel will include Lakota presenters discussing their history, culture and rituals. Music and dancing also will be presented.
During a field trip to the Pine Ridge Reservation, the participants will visit a sweat lodge, the site of the Wounded Knee Massacre and other historical locations. A trip to Fort Robinson is also planned.
The CSC Conferencing Office is in charge of the program Area residents wishing to take part may call the office at 432-6380.
