CHADRON – Heather Shumaker, author of two books about pre-school play, spoke about her renegade rules for pre-school children at Chadron State College’s 30th annual Excellence in Early Childhood Conference Saturday. Dr. Kim Madsen, professor in the School of Applied Sciences, said the event was well-attended by child care providers from the region, as well CSC students studying Family and Consumer Science and Elementary Education.

CHADRON – The Big Event staff will host its annual The Big White Out Friday, Feb. 15, at the Chicoine Center during Chadron State College’s women’s and men’s basketball games against South Dakota School of Mines. The women’s game begins at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s will follow at 7:30 p.m.

CHADRON – Five Nebraska students have been accepted into the Rural Law Opportunities Program (RLOP) at Chadron State College. They are Hunter Rathjen and Zach Kring of North Platte, Micah Stouffer of Chadron, TeAnna Tenopir of Waverly, Scott Wheeler of Imperial. Kring will join RLOP in 2020 after a deferral to complete a youth exchange program in Argentina.

CHADRON – The Chadron State College Theatre Department will perform “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” by Christopher Durang Feb. 14-17, in Memorial Hall’s Black Box Theatre. The Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m., and the Sunday matinee is at 2 p.m.
