Memorial service planned for Tuesday

CHADRON – A memorial service for Fatima Larios has been scheduled for Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall. The service is open to the public.

Sandoz exhibit tells Civil Rights story

“The Road to the Promised Land: Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement,” an exhibition of photographs, facsimiles of landmark documents and quotations by King and other movement leaders is open through March 15 in the gallery of the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center.

Socialism in Cuba discussed

Seven Chadron State College students and two faculty members, Dr. T. Smith and Dr. Deane Tucker, gathered at the Bean Broker Thursday evening to discuss their study abroad trip to Cuba. The trip, in mid-December, was the first trip Nebraska college students have made to Cuba, according to Smith and Tucker.

Music department gears up to host annual High Plains festival

CHADRON – Nearly 125 student musicians from 25 Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming high schools will travel to Chadron State College for the annual High Plains Band and Choir Festival in Memorial Hall Feb. 2-3. CHADRON – The Chadron Police Department is investigating the death of Fatima Larios, a 19-year-old female from Seaside, California.

Former CSC professor, Zane Dickinson, dies in Minnesota

Zane Dickinson, a former assistant professor in Chadron State College’s English and humanities department for more than 25 years, died Tuesday in Rochester, Minnesota. He was 72.

Cuba Libre presentation set for Thursday

Chadron State College students and faculty will host an informative session for the community and campus regarding their recent capstone trip to Cuba Thursday at the Bean Broker in Chadron. The forum, which will include photos and impressions from a nine-day study abroad experience in Cuba, begins at 7 p.m.

Lock down has been canceled - Updated 2:30 a.m. (Jan. 25, 2015)

The lock down for the residence halls on the Chadron State College campus has been canceled as of 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, Jan. 25, 2015. Based on information from the Chadron Police Department, there is no threat to campus.
