Students studying math or science at Chadron State College will benefit from a gift of more than $500,000 by Richard Gochnauer who attended CSC 1955-57. He lived at the Prairie Pines Lodge in Chadron before passing away in April of 2012.

The Nebraska Cattlemen Foundation board will be meeting on the Chadron State College campus Sept. 17. Foundation board president Loretta Hamilton, of Thedford, said the group is looking forward to touring the Coffee Agriculture Pavilion, which is now in the final stages of construction.

Chadron State College, in collaboration with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, has begun an effort to document the occurrence of swift foxes and identify the anthropogenic and ecological factors that limit their distribution. The swift fox has been identified as a Tier 1 at-risk species.

Six families with long-standing ties to Chadron State College were recognized by receiving the institution’s Family Tree Award Saturday. Families with three or more generations that have attended the institution are eligible for the award.

King Library staff, along with the college administration, is transforming the library into a learning commons area which will address student and faculty needs by bringing together technology, tutoring, content and services in an upgraded physical space that provides an engaging, collaborative environment, according to Shawn Hartman, outreach librarian.
