CHADRON – Chadron State College’s 11th annual The Big Event (TBE) will take place April 15, according to TBE Graduate Assistant Kinsey Smith of Windsor, Colorado. The event will be from 9 a.m. to noon, originating on campus and then fanning out in the community.

LINCOLN – Governor Jim Pillen has appointed Cooper Reichman of Chadron State, Olivia McAsey of Peru State, and Emma Wilkinson of Wayne State to serve as student trustees on the Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State College System. They will each serve a one-year term (2023-2024 academic year) representing State College students.

CHADRON – Chadron State College’s Rangeland Management program is hosting Practitioner in Residence Jim Gerrish to teach a grazing management short course.Dr. Ron Bolze with the Rangeland Management and Range Livestock Production programs, said Gerrish is an independent grazing lands consultant providing service to ranchers on private and public lands across the U.S. and internationally.

CHADRON – The 2023 Spring Graves Lecture Series will begin March 14. All presentations are at the Sandoz Center Chicoine Atrium and free and open to the public. CHADRON – Every Eagle Succeeds is a newly recognized Chadron State College club started by Katherine Hoeke and a few of her peers. Hoeke, a Special Education major of Rapid City, South Dakota, said the idea for the club came when she attended a Nebraska State College System student leadership conference at Peru State College.

CHADRON — Chadron State College students Allison Acosta of Tucson, Arizona, and Cole Martinez of David City, Nebraska, each won two awards from the Black Hills chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Feb. 17 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Martinez won two silver awards for an identity system for exhibits and signage in the CSC Museum of Geology and his typography design for a self-identity logo. Acosta won a silver and a Judges’ Choice award for her Song of Achilles book cover design.

CHADRON – Chadron State College is partnering with Chadron Public Library, the Arts Center, and faculty from Chadron Public Schools to host a community art show Feb. 18- from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m and Feb. 19 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Chadron Arts Center. CSC students are invited to create entries for the show. The theme is Rooted in the Earth.

CHADRON – The emotions of children was the topic of the 33rd annual Excellence in Early Childhood Conference at Chadron State College Feb. 18. Keynote speaker Jenny Benson based her remarks on the 2015 movie Inside Out, in which the emotions of a young girl, Riley, are portrayed as a supporting cast helping her navigate life's challenges.

CHADRON – Chadron State College student Juliana Sellars is the Project Strive/TRiO Student of the Month for January. Sellars, a junior from Westminster, Colorado, said she chose CSC because of its affordability and location, which she said is the perfect distance from home.
