CHADRON – Chadron State College’s seventh annual The Big Event had a first Saturday: it became the first one impacted by a snow storm. Approximately 12 inches of snow and a blizzard in the Chadron area days before the event reduced the number of planned jobsites from about 50 to half that number, according to Dr. Shaunda French-Collins, associate professor, who coordinates the annual day of service. CHADRON – The May 2020 Chadron State College faculty-led Study Abroad trip to London and Dublin will be historic for at least two reasons: It will be the 40th CSC trip and seven academic disciplines of Art, Business, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Education, English, and Psychology will be included.

CHADRON – A show dedicated to the equine species will open Saturday with a reception in the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center. “Heavenly Horses,” an exhibit comprised of 17 photos of Mari Sandoz visiting the Lazy VV horse farm near Nederland, Colorado, in the 1940s, also includes mixed media artwork from Edgemont, South Dakota, artist Tami Bauer, and customized Breyer model horses by Chadron resident Lori Fisher.

RAPID CITY -- Presidents from the higher education institutions in western South Dakota and Nebraska gathered March 29 for the Presidents’ Higher Education Summit in Rapid City. Among the topics of conversation were current and future collaborations among the seven schools, identifying a list of higher education options in the region and possibly sharing adjunct professors.

LINCOLN – The devastation caused by the recent flooding and blizzard will have far-reaching impacts on a number of Chadron, Peru, and Wayne State Colleges’ students who come from all corners of Nebraska. To help alleviate some of the financial hardships on returning and incoming students and families affected by the natural disasters, the Nebraska State College System (NSCS) is launching the 2019 Disaster Relief Tuition Waiver Program.
