CHADRON – “Bits and Pieces: Beauty in Chaos,” a show featuring fiber art and quilts by CSC alumna Whitney Tewahade and digital photography by her daughter, Leila Tewahade, is now open in Chadron State College’s Memorial Hall Main Gallery through March 20. The Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center is seeking public contributions for its upcoming show “Soldiering into Victory: 75th Anniversary of World War II Ending.” The exhibit will be on display from April 8 to May 30. The Sandoz Center is requesting copies of photographs of local men and women in uniform who served in WWII and copies of letters they sent home.

CHADRON – Although college students in parts of the world as far apart as western Nebraska and Mozambique, a nation of almost 30 million people on the southeast coast of Africa, are different in many ways, they seem to share at least one characteristic, according to a research project undertaken by Chadron State College student Dinema Mate (Dee-nay-mah Mat-tay) last summer.

CHADRON – The Chadron State College Theatre department is presenting two shows in the spring semester that both deal with the supernatural. “She Kills Monsters” by Qui Nguyen opens Feb. 20 and runs through Feb. 23. “The Great Beyond” and “The Ghost of Splinter Cove,” a combined show, will be April 23-26. Tickets are free and the productions will be in the Black Box Theatre. All performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. except the Sunday 2 p.m. matinees.

CHADRON – Chadron State College’s first pop-up food pantry will be Sunday and Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the King Library entryway. The food pantry, targeted to help food insecure students, is provided by Shepherd’s Pantry at Immanuel Lutheran Church and CSC’s Student Senate.

CHADRON – The Big Event staff and The Nest are hosting the annual The Big White Out Friday during Chadron State College’s women’s and men’s basketball games against Colorado State University-Pueblo at the Chicoine Center. The women’s game begins at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s game follows at 7:30 p.m.
