CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Led by freshman Dakota Rice, seven Chadron State College contestants placed high in their events at the Laramie County Community College rodeo in Cheyenne this past weekend. The rodeo was the last on the fall schedule in the Central Rocky Mountain Region.

CHADRON – Western Community Health Resources partnered with the Out of the Darkness national campaign and Chadron State College students and faculty to hold the inaugural Out of the Darkness Walk at Wilson Park in Chadron Oct. 1 with approximately 50 people in attendance. The walk was intended to bring recognition to suicide awareness on campus and in the community.

CHADRON – For the first time in school history, Chadron State College’s homecoming king will experience a two-year reign. Lane Swedberg of Wallace, Nebraska, and Jessica Orose of Piedmont, South Dakota, were crowned homecoming king and queen Wednesday evening during coronation at the Student Center.

CHADRON – This is the second time Dr. Rocco Rotello has received special recognition from his alma mater. He also was presented Chadron State College’s Distinguished Young Alumni Award in 1997. This week he will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award.

CHADRON – Dr. Richard T. Owens of Sioux City, Iowa, has had a long and distinguished career as an educator, beginning in the 1950s in rural schools in Nebraska and continuing as an adjunct professor at Morningside College in Sioux City and the University of Sioux Falls.

CHADRON – Art displays by South Dakota native Todd Christensen will be exhibited in the Chadron State College Main Gallery Oct. 15 through Nov. 13. A reception for Christensen will be Thursday, Oct. 15, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Memorial Hall Lobby.
