Dr. Jackson Hammitt, music professor at Chadron State College from the fall of 1967 through the spring of 2001, died early this week in Houston, Texas, where he and his wife, Peggy, were returning from a Caribbean cruise. Memorial services are pending. He was 76.

Campus Arboretum Volunteers will meet Saturday at the Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The agenda will focus on planning 2015 events. The gathering will also include a celebration to thank Jane Darnell for her work as she prepares to move to Montana for a new position.

The music department is performing a fundraiser Tuesday, Jan. 13, in M-Hall Room 104 at 7:30 p.m. The purpose of the event is to help finance a trip for several CSC piano students and an instructor to attend the fourth annual Collegiate Chapters MTNA Piano Pedagogy Symposium Jan. 17-18 in Dallas, Texas.
