LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska State College System has named Fran Hassler the eighth NSCS Counseling Excellence Award recipient. Hassler, who has been the guidance counselor at Ponca High School since 1995, served as a home economics teacher at PHS prior to becoming a guidance counselor.

Volunteers raised $175,280 in the Chadron State Foundation annual fall campaign. Community chairmen, Senna Reeves and Jason Carnahan along with campus chairmen Rob Stack and Brent Bargen organized over 120 volunteers during the three-week campaign.
