Distinguished Alum to serve as visiting scholar

Dr. Ken Emonds, who received Chadron State’s Distinguished Alumni Award and was the speaker at commencement in May, will return to the campus as a visiting scholar Sept. 6-10.

Smithsonian Food Exhibition coming to Sandoz Center

A new Smithsonian traveling exhibition, “Key Ingredients: America by Food,” will be on display in the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center at Chadron State College beginning Friday, Sept. 2. The exhibit will remain open through Oct. 17.

Poet Laureate coming to Chadron State

The nation’s Poet Laureate, Ted Kooser of Lincoln, will lead off the Galaxy Series at Chadron State College this fall. He will read his poetry at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8 in Memorial Hall. Tickets are now available through the CSC box office in Memorial Hall.

Community music group to organize soon

The Bordeaux Community Band and the Chadron Community Chorus are gearing up for their performances in 2005 and ’06. The organizational meeting and first rehearsal for the band will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 in the band room of Memorial Hall at Chadron State College. The chorus will assemble for the first time this fall at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 in the chorus room of Memorial Hall.

A marketing professor who has a wealth of experience in business and economic development has joined the faculty at Chadron State College.

New CJ professor has had many experiences

A new assistant criminal justice professor at Chadron State College will have many first-hand experiences to tell his students. Loren Zimmerman was a high school dropout, is a Marine Corps veteran and a former homicide investigator for the Los Angeles Police Department. Largely because of the Marines, he has been around the world twice.

Management professor hired at CSC

A new management professor has been hired at Chadron State College. He is August Bruehlman, who is nearing completion of his doctorate at Colorado State University.

CSC names political science instructor

A new political science instructor began working at Chadron State College this fall. Luke Perry is a native of LaGrange, Ill. He earned his bachelor’s degree from York College in Pennsylvania. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, where he is also working on a doctorate.
