Chadron State College in February will launch the first in a series of courses to address the federal No Child Left Behind legislation. Eight courses at CSC have been designed to help teachers meet No Child Left Behind’s requirements.

About 70 people walked Chadron's Main Street to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday Monday.

A program titled “Shattered Dreams,” discussing how Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. might react to today’s social conditions, will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22 in Memorial Hall at Chadron State College. It will be open to the public without charge.

Two professionals with a wealth of experience will be the main speakers at the 15th annual Excellence in Early Childhood Conference in the Student Center at Chadron State College on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20 and 21. This year’s theme is United We Stand for Children… Together We Make a Difference.

The 2004 edition of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges” will include the names of 52 students from Chadron State College who have been selected as national outstanding campus leaders.

Services for one of Chadron State’s best-known retired faculty members, Dr. Elizabeth (Betty) Jacobson McCawley, were Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Grace Episcopal Church. She died early Tuesday, Jan. 13 at the Chadron Community Hospital following a brief illness. She was 90.

Work is expected to begin soon on the renovation of Edna Work Hall and Wing, the large rambling residence hall on the west side of the Chadron State College campus. As the new year opens, the renovation is one of four capital improvement projects underway or about to begin at CSC.
