CHADRON – Chadron State College’s Winter Commencement for graduate and undergraduate students is Friday, Dec. 14. The graduate ceremony is at 2 p.m. in Memorial Hall’s Auditorium with Dr. Robert Stack as the speaker. The undergraduate ceremony is at 4 p.m. in the Chicoine Center with Judge Russell Harford as the speaker. There are 79 candidates for master’s degrees and 159 candidates for bachelor’s degrees. Both events can be seen on CSC Live.

CHADRON – Chadron State College’s Director of Admission Lisa Stein recently received a Service Member Patriot Award. Stein was nominated for the award by Admissions Representative Heidi McClintock in recognition of Stein's support of McClintock, a public affairs specialist with the Nebraska Army National Guard’s Main Command Post Operational Detachment, First Infantry Division.

CHADRON – A youthful fascination with the western United States that started in an elementary school social studies class was part of what brought Massachusetts native Dr. Steve Coughlin, who is now in his fifth year as an assistant professor of English at Chadron State College, to the high plains of northwest Nebraska.

CHADRON -- The Nebraska State Colleges will not hold classes and business offices will be closed Wednesday as part of the National Day of Mourning. In the announcement made Tuesday, Nebraska State College System Chancellor Stan Carpenter said the observance is to honor and pay respect to the late President George Herbert Walker Bush who dedicated his life to service to his country. Gov. Pete Ricketts has also closed Nebraska state offices Wednesday.
