CHADRON – After two years working to meet requirements, Dr. Lori Entzminger and Dr. John Buttiglieri, education faculty members, have successfully shepherded a student chapter of Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) into existence at Chadron State College. Entzminger and Buttiglieri co-sponsor the chapter, the second in Nebraska, and serve as advisers for the Education Club.

CHADRON—Winter weather decreased attendance at Chadron State College's annual Scholastic Day Contest Friday to nine high schools from the 42 that were expected and to 177 students from the nearly 1,150 who were expected.

CHADRON – Students in Dr. Josh Ellis’ First Year Inquiry course learn to be skeptical of advertising, news, products and services. Ellis designed the three credit hour course (FYI 169AK) and offers it face-to-face each fall.

CHADRON–The Spring 2018 Graves Lecture Series will feature Mary Donahue Tuesday. Dr. T. Smith and Dr. Deane Tucker will speak April 17. Both presentations begin at 7 p.m. in the Sandoz Center Atrium and are free and open to the public.

CHADRON – Chadron State College’s Senior Art Show opened Monday, March 26, in Memorial Hall’s Main Gallery. The show, “Fourfold,” features the work of seniors Troi Arnold, Kendra Baucom, Taylor Juelfs, and Holly Real. The show will be open from March 26 to April 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. A reception for the artists will be Friday, April 6, from 5 to 7 p.m.

CHADRON – Chadron State College’s Child Development Center (CDC) recently qualified for its seventh reaccreditation since 1990. CDC Director Lona Downs said a team from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) completed a site visit in January as part of the five-year reaccreditation process.

CHADRON – Dr. Kurt Kinbacher, associate professor of Communication and Social Sciences, is living his dream. Kinbacher, who has been at CSC since 2013, is integral in planning the annual Mari Sandoz Society Conference. This year’s event is Sept. 20-22.

LINCOLN, Neb.–Governor Pete Ricketts has appointed Chadron State College student Dawson Brunswick of McCook, Neb; Peru State College student Camarie Stratman of Hartington, Neb., and Wayne State College student Ria Pedersen of Hartington, Neb., to serve as student representatives on the Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees. The students will serve during the 2018-2019 academic year.
