CHADRON – In an age when children are bombarded with cartoons, and movies and shows on all types of electronic devices, Chadron State College Theatre Professor Roger Mays believes it is important to expose young people to the magic of watching a story told by living, breathing actors on a stage in front of their eyes.

CHADRON – The Chadron State College Rodeo Team will host its annual Black Tie Calf Fry Saturday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m. in the Student Center. Advance tickets are $15 each for adults and $20 at the door. In addition to dinner, the evening will include live music, a guest speaker, silent and live auctions of western decor, handmade leather items and art.

CHADRON – Pediatric occupational therapist Angela Hanscom addressed more than 200 childcare providers and Chadron State College students Saturday at the Student Center. Hanscom’s keynote address focused on the physical and mental health benefits of outdoor play for young children.

CHADRON – Six Chadron State College students attended the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) show in Anaheim, California, in late January. The students were Patrick Cassidy of Scottsbluff, Neb., Joe Cline of Morrill, Neb., Leslie Hopton of Sundance, Wyo., Gabe Ramos and Alex Rawlings of Chadron and Jake Voorhis of Fort Valley, Va. Music Assistant Professor Dr. McKay Tebbs accompanied the group.

CHADRON – The decision made a year ago that the time was right for the Chadron State College Theatre Department to stage Eve Ensler’s groundbreaking feminist play “The Vagina Monologues,” has been justified by recent events, according to Professor Roger Mays, who is directing the production that opens Thursday, Feb. 22 in the Black Box Theatre in Memorial Hall.
