CHADRON – Two Chadron State College students and Assistant Professor Dr. Mary Keithly attended the National American Chemical Society Spring Conference in New Orleans recently. Senior Emmanuella Tchona of the Republic of Benin made a poster presentation about her research on how Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) resists antibiotics. Jessy Sexton of Otis, Colorado, also a senior, attended the conference representing the Chemistry Club.

CHADRON – Chadron State College has announced four finalists for the Vice President for Academic Affairs position. Dr. Jim Powell, who has been the college’s top academic officer since 2020, announced his retirement in November 2023.

CHADRON – Several speakers noted the excitement and energy in the air during the investiture of Chadron State College’s twelfth president, Dr. Ron K. Patterson, Friday in Memorial Hall. Others mentioned the celebration marked a time for renewal. Music by CSC students and an inaugural poem written and performed by Distinguished Young Alumni recipient Jovan Mays punctuated the event.

CHADRON – Chadron State College senior Emmanuella Tchona was the first student in recent history to speak during the Graves Lecture Series April 2. She will graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry.

CHADRON – The Coordinating Commission for Post-Secondary Education has approved a proposal for a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree to be offered by all three Nebraska State College System campuses. CSC will begin offering MAT courses starting this summer.
