CHADRON – Chadron State College senior Emmanuella Tchona was the first student in recent history to speak during the Graves Lecture Series April 2. She will graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry.

CHADRON – The Coordinating Commission for Post-Secondary Education has approved a proposal for a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree to be offered by all three Nebraska State College System campuses. CSC will begin offering MAT courses starting this summer.

CHADRON – The Coordinating Commission for Post-Secondary Education has approved a proposal for a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree to be offered by all three Nebraska State College System campuses. CSC will begin offering MAT courses starting this summer. The degree program will be added to the catalog in the Fall 2025.

CHADRON – Chadron State College students and employees gathered for the ninth annual Rising Sophomore awards ceremony Wednesday. Dr. Jim Powell, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Chadron State College, was the keynote speaker. He came to CSC in 2015 as the Dean for Assessment, Accreditation, Curriculum, and Education, Human Performance, Counseling, Psychology, and Social Work. Powell, who became the Vice President for Academic Affairs in 2020, is retiring at the end of June.

CHADRON – More than 450 volunteers signed in and served at 60 jobsites Saturday during Chadron State College’s twelfth annual The Big Event (TBE). The range of volunteers this year expanded beyond CSC students and employees. TBE Graduate Assistant Kinsey Smith said 30 Upward Bound high students participated with their leaders picking up litter at the green space east of Walmart and cleaning up debris in Art Alley between Main Street and Chadron Avenue.

CHADRON – Chadron State College’s Guitar Ensemble, led by Instructor Jeremy Quick, will perform two shows in the Veath Planetarium on Friday in synchronization with graphics designed by Art Professor Mary Donahue and three of her students enrolled in the Graphic Design Practicum (ART 422) course.

CHADRON – Students in the Rural Business Leadership Initiative (RBLI) and Rural Law Opportunities Program (RLOP) met with business and legal leaders from throughout the Panhandle at the Rural Roundtable organized by Project Manager Kate Pope last week. She said the students liked the unstructured coffee hour conversations with local professionals and have asked for similar events in the future.
