Organizational changes in Chadron State College’s staff will result in the equivalent of two fewer full-time administrators. Chadron State College President Dr. Janie Park issued an e-mail to CSC employees Friday afternoon that outlined staffing changes that have occurred during the past few weeks.

People in Chadron who walk for fitness will soon have a new resource to help them with their endeavor. The Chadron Lifespan Wellness Team is spearheading a project to publish brochures that contain detailed maps of Chadron’s popular walking routes. Insurance provider Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska announced in June that the Chadron program was one of its nine recipients of Blue Health and Wellness grants awarded outside Omaha and Lincoln. The award is $10,000.

The cast and crew of the Post Playhouse at Fort Robinson State Park are looking to build on this year's success as they open the third and final show of the season next week. The first performance of “Guys and Dolls” will be Tuesday, July 15. Roger Mays, the playhouse’s director, said the play is often described as the perfect musical. He said the production “will equally delight audiences of all ages, providing some of the best fun of the Post Playhouse’s 2008 season.”

Frances Gonzalez, Chadron State College tutoring services counselor, will complete her term as president of the Heartland Chapter of the College Reading and Learning Association during the organization’s annual conference this fall. The conference will be Oct. 22-25 at Cincinnati, Ohio.

Approximately 30 graduates of Chadron State College during the 2007-08 school year have signed teaching contracts for this fall, according to a report from the Internship and Career Services Office at CSC. Janet Hartman, the office assistant who compiles the information about CSC graduates, said, as usual, the office received numerous inquiries from schools in the region with teaching vacancies. Twenty-three courses are being offered during Chadron State College's final summer session that begins next week. Most of the courses will begin Monday, July 7, and run through Aug. 1. About half of the courses are on the graduate level, designed for those seeking master’s and specialist’s degrees. The remaining courses are available on the undergraduate level.
