An exhibit at the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center at Chadron State College explores the history and culture behind an important tradition in Mexico. “A Celebration of Souls: Day of the Dead in Southern Mexico” depicts the celebration of spirits of the deceased through lively photographs and is on display at the center through Aug. 28.

Victoria Badura, a certified public accountant from Omaha, will teach business courses at Chadron State College beginning this fall. Badura comes to CSC after serving as an instructor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where she taught courses in management information systems and accounting. She also was managing editor of the e-Service Journal, a multi-disciplinary publication that covers topics relevant to researchers and practitioners of “e-business” and “e-government.”

Seventeen Chadron State College students and Dr. Tracy Nobiling, CSC associate professor of justice studies, joined students and professors from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in a criminal justice tour of London on May 12-28. This was the 33rd trip to London for CSC students.

A total of 357 students achieved the Dean’s List at Chadron State College during the spring semester. The Dean’s List requires a grade point average of at least 3.5 on the 4.0 scale. Those on the Dean’s List from Nebraska, listed by their hometowns, are:

Students will have more than 30 courses to choose from during the June session that begins next week at Chadron State College. Most of the classes will begin Monday, June 2, and run through the 27th. A number of the courses are on the graduate level, designed for those seeking master’s and specialist’s degrees. However, about 20 courses also are available on the undergraduate level.

A graduate of both Chadron High School and Chadron State College has been selected as the 2008-09 Wyoming High School Principal of the Year by the Wyoming Association of Secondary School Principals. Dirlene Steffe Wheeler is in her eighth year as principal at Sheridan High School, which has 902 students in grades nine through 12 and 75 full-time teachers.
