The appointment of a new president was among the highlights at Chadron State College in 2005. Dr. Janie Park arrived on campus in August and immediately began offering encouraging words. Even before she officially began her duties, she greeted the CSC football players and wished them well for the season.

Tomak Whitney, a resident of Chadron State College’s West Court housing facility, was found dead at his apartment early Friday afternoon. Services are pending for Whitney, who turned 34 years of age last Wednesday.

The vice president of administration at Chadron State College the past nine years, Ed Hoffman, will become vice chancellor for facilities, planning and information technology in the Nebraska State College System Office in Lincoln in July. The announcement was made last week by Dr. Stan Carpenter, chancellor of the state college system, and Dr. Janie Park, the president of Chadron State.
