A national search is beginning at Chadron State College for a vice president of academic affairs. But the person selected for the position will no longer also be the head of enrollment management and student services, according to the president of Chadron State, Dr. Janie Park. The positions were combined in the late 1990s, but Park believes it will be beneficial for them to be separated.

George S. McGovern will be the keynote speaker at the Mari Sandoz Heritage Society’s annual meeting at Chadron State College on Thursday, March 30. The announcement was made on Friday during the news conference at CSC to discuss the receipt of the gift of Dawes County ranchland from Esther Pilster and her late husband Raleigh to the Sandoz Society.

Renowned speakers Barbara Coloroso of Littleton, Colo., and Aaron Davis of Lincoln will headline the 17th Excellence in Early Childhood Conference at Chadron State College. As of Wednesday, Jan. 18, fewer than 40 tickets remained for nationally syndicated cowboy poet Baxter Black’s performance at Chadron State College. The show will be 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. Black has written several books and produced numerous CDs and videos. He frequently recites his poetry on National Public Radio.
