The revised edition of the book on the history of Cuny Table will come off the presses this week. Those wishing to purchase copies won’t have to wait long. A signing by the author, Virginia Kain Lautenschlager, will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center.

Six entries that were winners at the Western Nebraska History Day hosted by Chadron State College on March 18 placed first or second at the recent state contest in Lincoln and are eligible to advance to the national competition at College Park, Md., in June. Four of the western Nebraska entries won firsts at the state contest, which took place April 16 at Nebraska Wesleyan, and two more placed second.

Karissa Johnson, a junior human biology student from Hershey, was elected the 2005-2006 Chadron State College Student Senate president last week. She will succeed Ryan Morgan, a senior from Ogallala.

Dr. Monty Fickel, Chadron State College Mathematics Department chairman and professor, has received the Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology. It was presented during the 16th International Conference on College Teaching and Learning at Jacksonville, Fla., on March 29-April 2.
