CHADRON – The Panhandle Advantage is a collaborative effort between Western Nebraska Community College and Chadron State College created to streamline the process for WNCC students who have earned an associate’s degree to complete a bachelor’s degree at CSC. Each WNCC graduate with a qualifying GPA is eligible for a two-year scholarship to CSC.

CHADRON – Chadron State College Social Work seniors Taylee Neefe of Hemingford, Neb., Katelyn Wheeler of Imperial, Neb., and Celeste Cardona of Mitchell, Neb., are among the 11 students making final preparations to distribute LGBTQ+ informational videos on flash drives next week as part of their class (SW 435). The original videos are customized for different audiences, including students in elementary, middle, and high schools, their parents, and educators.

CHADRON – Chadron Mayor Miles Bannan proclaimed Nov. 8 First Generation Student Day during a City Council meeting Monday night. The declaration celebrates the 55th anniversary of the signing of the 1965 Higher Education Act and acknowledges the talents and potential first generation students have to offer their communities. The declaration also reinforces the important role TRiO programs, Project Strive and Upward Bound, play in promoting educational success for first generation students.

LINCOLN – The Nebraska State College System is conducting a search for Peru State College’s 34th president following President Dan Hanson’s retirement announcement to the Peru community today. After twelve years of service to Peru State College and Southeast Nebraska, Dr. Hanson will leave the role in June 2021.

CHADRON – Chadron State College graduate student Chelsea Turner was honored this week with the Champion Award from the Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska (BHECN). She has worked in mental health services for 11 years and is pursuing licensure in clinical mental health counseling. Annual BHECN awards are given for distinguished service, ambassadorship, and courage to recognize individuals who make a significant impact in the behavioral health field in the state of Nebraska.
