LINCOLN – Governor Pete Ricketts has appointed Ruth Mencia of Grand Island, Panashe Jacha of Elkhorn, and Jackson Richling of Grand Island to serve as student trustees on the Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees. They will serve a one-year term and represent Chadron, Peru, and Wayne State College students.

CHADRON – Nearly 200 Nebraska high school students from 25 high schools participated in the Fourth Annual Best of the West Virtual Business Invitational Jan. 26-28, co-hosted by Chadron State College and the Nebraska Council on Economic Education (NCEE).

CHADRON – The 49th annual High Plains Band and Choir festival will convene at Chadron State College Monday. About 70 students from 23 high schools in Nebraska, Wyoming, and South Dakota will attend. Due to COVID-19, the event will not feature a guest conductor this year. Senior students who plan to attend CSC this fall have the opportunity to audition for music scholarships at the festival.

CHADRON – The Chadron State College Music Department has scheduled 13 events for the spring semester. All events are free and open to the public, however, attendees are required to adhere to CSC’s Face Covering Policy and maintain social distancing. Live streaming is also available at csc.edu/live.

CHADRON – The life and accomplishments of Mari Sandoz will be showcased through March 5 in the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m. to noon. The Sandoz Center's accessibility is subject to change in accordance with COVID-19 protocols.
