CHADRON – Chadron State College has announced the names of students who qualified for Spring 2021 academic honors. The President's List contains students with a 4.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Students met requirements for the Dean’s List by earning at least a 3.5 grade point average.

CHADRON – Dr. Kim Cox, assistant professor of English, has co-edited a special issue of Nineteenth-Century Gender Studies with colleagues Dr. Shannon Draucker and Dr. Doreen Thierauf. The title of the open-access issue is Teaching to Transgress in the Emergency Remote Classroom.

CHADRON – Chadron State College resumed its tradition of Ivy Day, a ceremony co-hosted by the Blue Key and Cardinal Key national honor societies, to recognize outstanding graduating undergraduates. Last year, the event was canceled due to COVID-19.

CHADRON – Chadron State College commencement exercises recognized 278 Spring 2021 graduates and 38 graduates from Spring and Winter 2020 at the Chicoine Center Saturday. It was the first in-person commencement ceremony CSC hosted since Dec. 2019. Dr. Rick Koza, retiring Business Professor, and Dr. Merlin Butler, a physician and geneticist at the University of Kansas, were speakers for the events. CHADRON – Chadron State College Associate Professor of Education Dr. Robin Brierly and a group of education majors have established a chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in Education. The CSC chapter name is Alpha Kappa Kappa.

CHADRON – Speakers for Chadron State College’s first in-person commencement ceremonies since the pandemic will be Dr. Merlin Butler at the 9 a.m. graduate ceremony and Dr. Richard Koza at the 1 p.m. undergraduate exercises. Both events will be in the Chicoine Center. Each guest will be required to have an invitation and wear a face mask. Public seating will be available in the Don Beebe stadium where the festivities will be broadcast via CSC Live on the videoboard.

CHADRON – For the 10th consecutive time, Chadron State College’s student newspaper, The Eagle, was judged Best Overall Newspaper in the Northern Plains Collegiate Media Association’s annual Golden Leaf Awards student media competition April 22 via video conference from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
