A Chadron State College psychology professor, Dr. Gail Hinesley, has been selected to attend a 3 1/2-day advanced studies seminar in Washington, D.C., the third week in June. The seminar will focus on the use of the National Assessment of Educational Progress database for education research and policy analysis.

A Chadron State graduate, Sharla Dowding, who teaches science at Newcastle High School in Wyoming, has begun a three-year term as the District XV director for the National Science Teachers Association. The district includes Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. With more than 55,000 members, the NSTA is the largest professional organization in the world promoting excellence and innovation in science teaching.

Five Chadron State College graduates who majored in criminal justice or legal studies have been accepted to attend law school beginning this fall.

The popular musical comedy, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” will open the season this weekend at the Post Playhouse at Fort Robinson. Shows will be presented Friday and Saturday (June 15 and 16) at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. The playhouse will be closed on Monday nights, but “Charlie Brown” will be on stage again each evening June 19-23 and June 26-27. Another matinee is set for Sunday the 24th.

Con Marshall, who has served as Chadron State College’s director of information services and sports information for more than three decades, will “sort of” retire in July, as he puts it. Although Marshall will be officially retired he plans to remain involved with Chadron State for the next several years.

The Dean’s List for the 2007 spring semester at Chadron State College has been released. It requires a grade point average of at least 3.50 on the 4.0 scale. More than 350 students achieved the list.
