Chadron State College student Erica Morgan, a sophomore from Gibbon, Nebraska, died Friday in an automobile accident on Highway 2 near her hometown. She was 19.

CHADRON – Chadron State College students and alumni helped create a mural honoring Chadron’s volunteer firefighters. The mural, completed in July, is the sixth in the Chadron Area Chamber of Commerce’s Art Alley/Paint the Town project.

CHADRON – A groundbreaking ceremony for the Math Science Center of Innovative Learning (COIL) renovation and expansion on Chadron State College’s campus will be Friday, Sept. 11 at 8 a.m. on the north side of the current building. The event is open to the public. However, those who attend are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

CHADRON – The Mari Sandoz Symposium and Great Plains Pilster Lecture will occur online this year. Both virtual events are free and open to the public. Interested attendees can visit the Mari Sandoz Heritage Society website to register. Instructions to join the webinars will be provided to registrants before the event.

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska State College System (NSCS) had an overall gain in full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment of 1.37%. This increase can be attributed to the second-largest freshman class on record at Wayne State College, a dramatic increase in the number of graduate students at Peru State College, and a higher retention rate at Chadron State College.

CHADRON – “Compact Rhythms,” an exhibition from the Sheldon Museum of Art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will be in Memorial Hall’s Main Gallery Sept. 2-29. The Chadron State College Galaxy Series is sponsoring the exhibit. Hours for the Gallery are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
