LINCOLN, Neb. – The Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center at Chadron State College will be included among the 70 attractions in Nebraska Tourism’s 2020 Nebraska Passport program that kicks off later this spring. The passport program encourages tourists to travel throughout the state collecting stamps to earn prizes, while also supporting Nebraska’s tourism destinations.

CHADRON – The Chadron State College Scholastic Contest committee announced March 23 that the annual event, scheduled for April 17, has been canceled due to recommendations related to attempts to prevent the spread COVID-19. These included high school closures and the closure of the CSC campus to the public.

CHADRON – High school and middle school students from Chadron, Crawford, and Sioux County participated in the first virtual Western District History Day Friday, March 20. The change from an in-person competition was necessary due to the COVID-19 pandemic that forced Panhandle schools to close, according to event organizers Kate Pope and Moni Hourt.

CHADRON – Effective Monday, March 23, all Chadron State College academic courses, including those that were formerly taught in classrooms and face-to-face, will be accessed only through remote delivery for the remainder of the spring semester, President Randy Rhine announced in a letter to campus.

LINCOLN – In light of the COVID-19 information and guidance discussed at today’s Governor’s press conference, as well as changes in the recommendations from regional departments of health across the state, the Nebraska State College System (NSCS) has decided to extend Chadron, Peru, and Wayne State Colleges’ current Spring Break for one more week to provide time for our Colleges to develop alternative instruction for the remainder of the semester. Classes will resume on Monday, March 23.
