CHADRON – The Chadron State College Education Program will host a virtual accreditation visit by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) team April 19-21. The visit was originally intended to be a face-to-face visit on campus, but those plans were changed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

CHADRON – Even before Chadron State College president Randy Rhine announced March 17 that the CSC campus would be closed to the public and all courses would shift to remote delivery in response to the rapid spread of the highly infectious coronavirus and the dangerous Covid-19 disease it causes, college custodial staff were taking steps to keep students, faculty, and staff safe, according to Robbie Diehl, maintenance manager for Chadron State.

CHADRON – Chadron State College President Randy Rhine announced in a letter to campus Wednesday that Spring Commencement will be postponed to a summer date to be determined in accordance with restrictions on group events in Gov. Pete Ricketts’s Directed Health Measure.

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center at Chadron State College will be included among the 70 attractions in Nebraska Tourism’s 2020 Nebraska Passport program that kicks off later this spring. The passport program encourages tourists to travel throughout the state collecting stamps to earn prizes, while also supporting Nebraska’s tourism destinations.

CHADRON – The Chadron State College Scholastic Contest committee announced March 23 that the annual event, scheduled for April 17, has been canceled due to recommendations related to attempts to prevent the spread COVID-19. These included high school closures and the closure of the CSC campus to the public.

CHADRON – High school and middle school students from Chadron, Crawford, and Sioux County participated in the first virtual Western District History Day Friday, March 20. The change from an in-person competition was necessary due to the COVID-19 pandemic that forced Panhandle schools to close, according to event organizers Kate Pope and Moni Hourt.
