“Please press 1 for Sparks Hall.” A message like this may be similar to those heard by future visitors to Chadron State College when they use their cell phones to dial a special web-based phone service providing self-guided tours of campus. Sarah Polak, Director of the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center, wrote a proposal for the service which will be implemented through multiple phases.

The Chadron State College Wind Symphony Concert will take place April 28 at 3 p.m. in Memorial Hall. The concert is free and open to the public. The Chadron Community Concert Band will open the event by performing the Emperata Overture, West Side Story, Ghost Train, and Suite No. 1 in Eb for Military Band.

The Chadron State Foundation received a $500,000 scholarship gift from Frances Hess Richards this week, according to Connie Rasmussen, executive director of the foundation. The gift will be added to the existing endowed scholarship established by Frances and her late husband, Wilber “Eby” Richards in 1995.

At their honors banquet on campus this week, 18 Chadron State College students were recognized for accomplishing their Health Professions studies at CSC and acceptance into professional schools. Director of Health Professions and RHOP, Jill Mack said she was extremely proud of the accomplishments of the students and is confident they will represent CSC well in their future endeavors.

For the third consecutive year, The Eagle, the Chadron State College student newspaper, captured "Best in Overall Excellence" in the Newspaper Division of the Nebraska Collegiate Media Association's Golden Leaf Awards. The victory came Saturday at the association's annual conference, hosted by Doane College, Crete.
