An art show featuring recent work in a variety of mediums created by CSC art faculty including Laura Bentz, Richard Bird, Mary Donahue, and Nancy Sharps opened today in the Main Gallery of Memorial Hall and will run through March 15. Donahue said that Daniel Binkard and Dewayne Gimeson, who have been an important part of expanding the program in photography and digital photography, are showing for the first time in the faculty show.

Chadron State College President Randy Rhine has named Lisa Stein as the interim director of admissions. She assumed her duties today, Feb 11. Tena Cook, the former director, recently accepted a position as interim coordinator of marketing.

Chadron State College made a big splash at the Feb. 9 Rapid City Rush hockey game. Elmo, the eagle mascot of CSC, took to the spotlight dropping the puck for the start of the game between the Rush and the Arizona Sundogs. Media and College Relations staff, along with volunteers and Admissions staff distributed CSC promotional items and took photos throughout the evening.

Over 40 prospective students and their families plan to arrive on campus for the Eagle Open House February 18th. The families hail from Nebraska, Wyoming, South Dakota, Colorado, California, and Texas. The Admissions Office offers an open house each October and February.

On Feb. 17, the Chadron State College Department of Music and the CSC Foundation will unveil a recently refurbished 1918 Steinway Model D Concert Grand Piano. The 3 p.m. recital in the Memorial Hall auditorium by Associate Professor of Music Dr. James Margetts will feature music from the years 1909-1911.

World Championship Bull Rider Charlie Sampson will be in Chadron Feb. 21 and 22 speaking as part of the college’s celebration of Black History Month. Sampson, a native of California who used horses as a way to escape violence, will be sharing his inspirational story with the public Feb. 21 in Memorial Hall at 7 p.m. Tickets are not required.
