The Post Playhouse at Fort Robinson opens for its 39th season this weekend with the comedy, “Opal’s Baby.” The first round of shows will be presented Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 4. After a dark night on Monday, June 5, the show will be staged again Tuesday through Saturday, June 6-10 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, June 11 at 4 p.m.

The Chadron State Foundation has received $161,556 from the family of Claude H. Lefler, a native of the Gordon area. Proceeds from the gift will be used for scholarships, according to Connie Rasmussen, executive director of the foundation.

The appointment of two vice presidents who already are on the professional staff at Chadron State College has been announced by the college’s president. Dr. Janie Park said Dr. Lois Veath will be vice president for academic affairs and Dr. Randy Rhine will be the vice president for enrollment management and student services.

Twelve Chadron State College seniors who had at least a B average while taking at least 12 hours of history were recognized by CSC chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, a national history honorary society, during Ivy Day last Friday evening. Dr. Joel Hyer, the chapter sponsor, presented the students with red sashes that they wore their graduation gowns.
