Chadron State College’s year-ending exercises will be this weekend. Ivy Day, which dates back to 1920 and honors the college’s outstanding senior scholars, will be at 7 p.m. Friday, May 5 in Memorial Hall. The graduation ceremony for those earning graduate degrees will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Commencement for those earning bachelor’s degrees will be at 10 a.m. in the Armstrong Building.

"Road to Renewal," a variety show organized and performed by Chadron State College students raised $391 for Habitat for Humanity on Monday.

Thirty-three Chadron State College students who are health professions majors have been accepted to attend professional schools, beginning this fall. Nineteen of the students are in the Rural Health Opportunities Program that is a joint venture with the University of Nebraska Medical Center. One is in the High Plains Health Opportunities Program and will attend Creighton University. The others are “traditional” students. Most of them will attend UNMC.

Chadron State College on Tuesday recognized Chadron health professionals for their role in the student clinic’s first full year. CSC President Janie Park and Ann Dockweiler, CSC nurse, awarded plaques to Chadron Community Hospital Administrator Harold Krueger, physician’s assistants Mike Westerbuhr, Mary Moody and Heidi Wess, and Nichole Pourier, nurse practitioner.

A business and marketing professor who has become known for his work with students in and out of the classroom has been named this year’s outstanding educator at Chadron State College. Dr. Rick Koza is the institution’s 2006 Teaching Excellence Award winner.
