Photographs illustrating the infamous “Trail of Tears” from Georgia to Oklahoma in 1838-39 will open Friday, Jan. 28 in the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center at Chadron State College. The exhibit will remain open to the public through Feb. 25.

Only a limited number of tickets remain for the performance by the Omaha Symphony’s chamber orchestra in Memorial Hall at Chadron State College on Thursday, Jan. 27. The concert is a part of Chadron State’s Galaxy Series. Conductor Ernest Richardson will give a pre-concert talk beginning at 7 p.m. The concert will open at 7:30.

Chadron State College’s 16th annual Excellence in Early Childhood Conference will be Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 24-26. Dr. Kim Madsen, the conference’s director, said the event will feature a number of sessions to provide information and motivation for those who work with young children.
